The wisdom of bunnies

To me, when Buttons and Skittles are grooming themseves they look like they are deep in very wise and important thoughts. I think Button's mind is on what might be for dinner!

Skittles simply despairs of the stupidity of humans and can't bear it any longer!

Small bunny, big steps

When Buttons and Skittles came to live with us, back in November last year, Skittles was unbelievably shy and so scared of everyone and everything. He could even scare himself if he made a sudden movement or noise! It was a little frustrating for us at first as he really wouldn't let us near him, and we got quite a few bites and nips and scratches in the first couple of months if we tried to get too friendly. Cuddles were completely out of the question! I'm so pleased to report that things are changing! Skittles is getting used to me and the husband, and realises he can trust us (and that head rubs are actually quite nice!). The husband and I have for our part given Skittles his space, and tried hard not to scare him, and only pick him up if we really really have to (like nail trimming day!).

The hard work has paid off, the mutual respect is growing and just this weekend Skittles jumped onto the sofa, onto my lap while we were watching TV. When I went to stroke him, he didn't run away, he actually sat still and let me give him a good head and neck rub.

I was very happy, and so was he!

As Happy as a Bunny in Hay!

A delivery of fresh hay got Buttons very excited this morning. Just before I put the camera on him he was jumping up and down and rearranging the hay and digging in it. Cute! Unfortunately he got camera shy, so here is Buttons rewarding his own efforts with a good munch on the hay!

This second video gets the cutest view... but then i ran out of memory space on the camera!

In response to reader comments Buttons says: Skittles may be handsome and gorgeous, but I am the cutest!

Jealous!

Buttons noted that the Skittles/Buttons blog appearance ratio has been a little overly weighted to Skittles of late, and attemped to put things straight himself.
Ahem! Some one needs to tidy her desk!

Spring cleaning

Spring is sprung, and skittles has been doing a few rennovations around the house!Moving and shredding newspaper
And adding feature scrapes.
Beautiful!

Close encounters

Buttons and Skittles were really not so sure of what to make of the chickens on first meeting! At times both curious and terrified!

First time in the garden

Buttons and Skittles ventured outside for the first time this year yesterday (and it was gorgeous and sunny). Although when we got them they were outdoor bunnies, they seem to have forgotten that time (5 months ago) and didn't know what to make of it at all!

We repeated the experiment again this morning and they were a bit happier, but not so impressed by the dew on the grass!

We're back!

What can we say... it's been a busy couple of weeks! First the human went on holiday and deserted us with some nice people she called "the parent's in law". This was fun at first, as they had a massive room for us, where we found lots of new things to hide under and chew. But then we got in trouble for digging a hole. How were we to know that carpets were not for digging?

Now we're back where we belong, but not impressed that we are no longer the only important animals here. The humans are spending too much time with these new things in the garden they call "chickens" and getting all excited because of the eggs. Lucky them. We are sulking, as our petting time seems to have shrunk!

In other news... the human introduced another rabbit into the area. Skittles wasn't sure what to make of this so the human had to eat it! Phew :)

From the archives

Buttons and skittles are away for a few days, so here's an old video to keep us all occupied! Back next week!
